To make sure - order domain name first and then in a week or so web hosting.

It is always better to get domain name from accreited registrar than from reseller, because sometimes the question of ownership is placed very sharply...

Go with Godaddy, EuroDNS, Enom or any other ICANN Accredited registrar in order to have no problems henceforth...

I agree that it is on the wise side to get your domain and then once you make sure that it is yours then sign up for the hosting. Also a good rule of thumb is to make sure you keep track of your domain info. so that if you need to transfer it or make other adjustments then you have easy access to those areas. It is your domain so take a few extra minutes and get acquainted with the information your domain seller provides to you. Even if you are only parking it for the time you will want to move it eventually and you should know how.

Once you purchase a domain you are the owner of that domain. It doesn't matter you purchase a space or not. If you start a blogger account with that domain then you only will be the domain owner right ? In that case i guess you didn't purchase any space by paying it right ?
