    VPS or Dedicated Server

    Hi ,

I am planning to launch a website in near future which in expected to have 1092053(optimistic rate) users at the end of 1st year after lauch . I expect a proportional concurrent access . Website runs on PHP,MySQL 5.0 . Should i go for a VPS or dedicated server . Estimated number of users in 6 months is 8200 .

    Thanks,
    smartrider

Hi smartrider, welcome to webhostingchat. I suggest you to go for dedicated server. The main advantage of dedicated server is you don't share the server with anyone else and it results to better security. It will be expensive when compared to shared hosting. I wish you all the best in launching your new website.

I suppose that it will be a good idea to contact the web host's support team, tell them your specific needs and see what they will offer you.

How much disk space and bandwidth do you require?

I would personally start with a Dedicated but if you want to save money a VPS is a great place to start. We have customers with sites that have 10000 + users on VPS servers. It really depends on the content of the site as well if you will need a dedicated server or not. Like I said personally always Dedicated but if you need to save money VPSes are amazing these days...

I would suggest starting with a high spec vps which comes with 2GB RAM, atleast 1VCPU and lots of data transfer. If you can spend a little more, then a dedicated server will be a better option. Ensure you go in for a fully managed server, it will save you lot of headache and time on the technical front. All the best for your endeavours.

It's better to start from a VPS, it costs less than a dedi and gives as many privileges as if you use a dedi.
That's why I'd recommend you use a VPS from webhostgiant.com.
They provide a dedi too and you are able to upgrade your account with time if it's necessary for you.

Yeah, I agree with SiberForum. Just drop an email to your current provider they could offer you somethings out. Maybe the Cloud Hosting will be the best choice? Good luck =)

I also support SiberForum... if you write to your current provider and seek some solutions from them, maybe they would also give you a discount or rebate considering your existing business relationship and custom with them. You may try your luck with it, there is a good chance you would get something from them suitable for you.
